'Every town should have one'
With 12.4 million people living below the poverty line in the UK, the need to feed those in crisis across the UK is real. That's why we set up the foodbank network.
The network mobilises churches to set up their own foodbanks, empowering them to reach out to their local communities. We provide training, support, an operating manual, PR and branding materials, and access to the foodbank network's shared ideas and experience.
In 5 years we've launched over 65 foodbanks nationwide. In 2009/10 the foodbank network fed 41,000 people across the UK. But many more people are going hungry, which is why we say that every town needs a foodbank.
